it is a game, a quiet, creeping game; he the cat, he the mouse. he, in black elegance and dusty midnight velveteen; unbearable beauty wrapped in a faded funeral shroud, all raven hair and frightened eyes. he is as a bird, delicately perched on tiny dancing feet, ever blown this way and that by a stray wind. he, lithe creature of starless shades, slips silently through the subtleties of the night, porcelain and moonshine glinting off the cold stone. sinews like solid bands of iron beneath ebony skin, clenched fists a parody of flesh. his shoulders ripple like water, twining cord. . . muscles coiled like a wild cat poised for the sudden lunge; he emanates a savage power, like a cold, drenching sweat, all-pervading – primal heartbeat pounding in his ears, waiting.

the pounce is perfect, as he leaps, feline in his suavity, fangs unsheathed – the delicate warm neck bared to hungry teeth.
Taste.
